A Ministry of Presence
St. Nicholas and Holy Family Parishes are seeking a practicing Catholic to serve as our Youth & Young Adult Minister. This part-time position helps organize ministry and outreach for youth in grades 6–12 and young adults from post-high school age through their 20s and 30s.
The minister will work closely with the Youth & Family Minister, Coordinator of Religious Education, Parish Staff, Pastor, and parish volunteers to continue building faith-filled communities for youth and young adults.

What You’ll Do
- Plan and organize large-group Wednesday youth nights, including praise and worship and occasional social nights.
- Plan occasional youth group meetings and regular before-school gatherings.
- Accompany youth on trips and conferences such as the National Catholic Youth Conference and March for Life, as needed.
- Offer one Junior High and one High School retreat each year.
- Maintain a strong “ministry of presence” with parish youth.
- Maintain regular office hours during the school day to be available to youth.
- Coordinate Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) sports.
Youth & Young Adult Outreach
- Provide oversight of young adult ministry and help develop a core group of young adult volunteers.
- Encourage intentional, courageous, faith-sharing communities among youth and young adults.
- Publicize events through the bulletin, Mass announcements, social media, and parish website.
- Promote diocesan opportunities, including vocations events and youth gatherings.
- Collaborate with parish staff, deanery partners, diocesan projects, area parishes, and school districts.
- Coordinate fundraisers as needed to support youth ministry programs.
Who We’re Looking For
- A practicing Catholic who loves the Church and her teachings and is not in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Catholic faith.
- Someone who approaches the role as a ministry rather than simply a job.
- A person who pursues ministry with initiative, energy, prayer, flexibility, self-confidence, and appropriate assertiveness.
- Strong administrative, interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and collaborative ministry skills.
- An ability to build rapport and show genuine interest in the needs and feelings of others.
- Successful completion of required training and background checks.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide regular updates to the Coordinator of Religious Education.
- Develop an annual ministry budget and submit it to the Finance Council.
- Assist with Parish Office tasks as needed.
- Participate in ongoing formation through diocesan conferences and retreats.
- Intentionally promote vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Religious Education or Pastor.
